First Grade Overview
At the end of 12 weeks, students will be able to....
-- Use the vocabulary of theatre such as play, plot (beginning, middle, end),
improvisation, pantomime, character, audience) to describe theatrical experiences.
-- Observe and describe the traits of a character.
-- Demonstrate skills in pantomime, tableau, and improvisation.
-- Dramatize or improvise familiar simple stories from classroom literature or life
experiences, incorporating plot (beginning, middle, end)
and using a tableau or a pantomime.
-- Identify the cultural and geographic origins of stories and the history of theatre.
-- Identify theatrical conventions, such as props, costumes, masks, and sets.
-- Describe the roles and responsibilities of audience and actor.
-- Describe what was liked about a theatrical work or story.
-- Identify and discuss emotional reactions to a theatrical experience.
-- Apply the theatrical concept of beginning, middle, end to other content areas,
such as dramatizing the life cycle of the butterfly.
-- Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively in presenting
